JISA is an advanced academic program for 9th and 10th graders. The program focuses on a wide range of liberal arts academic studies. This streamlined approach lays a firm foundation for students’ future academic pursuits.
The program is based on three principles:
*Community * Rigor * Globalism*
We want our students to feel like they are part of a small group within our school where they are grouped with like-minded students who value learning and service. We also ask our students to look at their surrounding community for service opportunities.
Students learn how to think and how to learn at an advanced level that challenges them intellectually. We call this RIGOR.
- Courses taught at a level surpassing what is expected by state testing.
- Students prepare for more advanced studies at the IB level in 11th and 12th grades.
In JISA, students are asked to be internationally mindful and think outside their own experiences to consider those of others who may live, think, or act differently from them.
