State Champion in Photography
SkillUSA is a National Career Technical Student Organization, CTSO, that partners students, teachers and industry leaders in working together to ensure students have the opportunity to become successful while providing America with a skilled workforce. Students at Johnson High School who participate in SkillsUSA develop personal, career and leadership skills. Students attend leadership rallies, obtain national certifications and compete in region, state and national competitions.
Through participation, students develop confidence and are trained in current industry trends while networking with industry. Student’s graduate high school with the ability to enter both the career field and post-secondary education with the confidence and training needed to become successful leaders. Many SkillsUSA Students receive leadership training, financial assistance, paid internships and scholarships from SkillsUSA and industry associations.
The Graphic Communications Program has competed at state for 17 years and has placed in the top three, 15 times, 10 being Gold 1st place. We have competed at the SkillsUSA Nationals 10 times with two fourth places and a Silver (2nd place) in 2017. We received an invitation to compete in the 2019 World Skills in Russia in Graphic Communications. Our 2015 State winner in Photography attended North Georgia Technical College and placed 2nd at the college level in 2017 in Photography.
